Fox Mulder Wants to Pick Up His Badge Again

Arrested Development went to Netflix. Veronica Mars got a movie. Twin Peaks is getting a rebooted miniseries in 2016. What’s next, The X-Files coming back?

That’s exactly what’s next. The last time we saw FBI Special Agents Dana Scully (Gillian Andersen) and Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) was in the 2008 film The X-Files: I Want to Believe which wasn’t well received. However, despite that hiccup, fans across the board are willing and eager to see their favorite characters again.

It looks like that will be happening sooner rather than later. A few days ago Fox TV Group Chairman Gary Newman said he was “hopeful” about the franchise getting a reboot and now Special Agent Mulder himself has commented on the possibility.

When talking with USA Today, Duchovny had this to say:

“I’m assuming that it will happen sooner rather than later now. We’ll see what form, how many [episodes]. Certainly I can’t nor would I be interested in doing a full season. It will be in some kind of limited form. We’re all old, we don’t have the energy for a full season.”

Some fans may be disappointed in the fact that the show will probably return as a miniseries but Duchovny has a point. Plus, better to get it back in some capacity than not at all, right?

So it looks like we can believe again.
