New CW Trailer Shows Off Legendary Heroes and Villains

As DC’s television presence expands, we’re on the lookout for any news we can get our hands on. We got just that today with a brand new promo image and trailer for Legends of Tomorrow, the spin-off show from Arrow and The Flash. Check out the trailer below!

The image (above) shows off the new team, consisting of Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), Martin Stein (Victor Garber), Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Heatwave (Dominic Purcell), Hawgirl (Ciara Renée), Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill), and Sara Lance (Caity Lotz). However, the girl who once fought under the moniker Black Canary, looks particularly… brighter in this image.

Yup, that girl decked in all white is indeed Lotz’s Sara Lance, the original Black Canary on Arrow who died in Season 3.

Recently, at the annual CW upfronts, it was confirmed Lotz would play the White Canary in Legends of Tomorrow. In comics lore, she’s a completely different character than Black Canary and, indeed, a villain with a grudge against the Black Canary.

If Sara Lance is dead and White Canary is a different character, how will this work? Based on the trailer, it looks like she’s going to be resurrected in the Lazarus pits – perhaps thanks to Nyssa al Ghul? Whether or not she’ll come back a villain remains to be seen.

The trailer showcases the team, as rough as they are. We get a brief look back at Stephen Amell’s Arrow and Grant Gustin’s Flash origins and then meet the new team. Each character gets their moment in the spotlight before Rip Hunter shows up, explaining he’s from the future and what this team is all about – becoming legends and defeating the immortal antagonist of the series, Vandal Savage, who has yet to be cast.

Curiously, there’s also no look at actor Franz Drameh in the image or trailer.

Legends of Tomorrow is set to debut on The CW in early 2016 as a midseason series (similar to Marvel’s Agent Carter).
