Watch Supergirl Start to Soar In New Trailer

Kara Zor-El – aka Supergirl – is flying into action in this all-new trailer!

CBS held a press briefing at Television Critics Association yesterday and unveiled a brand new Supergirl trailer, which you can feast your eyes upon in the video below!

Kara kicks it into high-gear in this trailer, appearing at first an ordinary working woman going about her daily life. Then cut to our heroine passing a TV screen where a reporter asks, “Who is the mystery flying woman who saved the plane?” The plane, of course, was that which fell from the sky in a screeching ball of metal fury (okay, maybe I’m exaggerating, but it was pretty epic) which we get a glimpse of in this trailer. No matter, Kara is up to the task of saving the plane – and the world, as indicated by my personal favorite quote from the trailer, “The world needs you to fly.” Kara stops the plane from crashing and the day is saved.

Apparently, the “worst criminals in the galaxy” have been emerging (on the loose?) and it’s up to Kara to save the day once more. It should be said that, if you don’t already know, Kara Zor-El is related to Superman – which begs the question, will the citizens of New York perceive Kara as a hero of her own merit, or will it take some time for her to distinguish herself from her famous cousin? I’m looking forward to finding out, and either way I’m actually pretty glad to know that Superman will be largely absent from the show, giving Kara some time to shine.

Then we again see Kara in the office. “If she’s anything like [Superman], she’s a hero,” says the narrator. Please! Kara tearing her work getup to reveal her super suit(?) beneath lends to Kara being totally awesome all on her own. And from what we see here, there will be plenty of Kara kicking major bad guy booty to affirm that fact.

I can’t wait to follow the story of Supergirl, a super-being who has been hiding her abilities for years and finally blossoms into the hero she was born to be.

The pilot episode of Supergirl was written by Ali Adler (No Ordinary Family) and Greg Berlanti (Arrow and The Flash). They will also executive produce along with Sarah Schechter and Warner Bros. TV.

Supergirl will premiere Monday, October 26th at a special time (8:30/7:30c) before it moves to its regular time slot on Monday, November 2nd.
