New Supergirl Images from Upcoming Episode Reveal Winn’s Villainous Father

Supergirl joins the growing list of Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment’s successful television series. It may have started out on wobbly feet, but it’s gotten better and better with every new episode.

From Melissa Benoist developing her take on Kara Zor-El as a multi-faceted and likable hero, to Hank’s reveal as Martian Manhunter, it’s been an exciting first season.

However, one plot I’ve been looking forward to since day one is the villain Toyman, and it looks like we’ll be getting that in episode 10! Check out images from the episode below.

When Jeremy Jordan was cast as Winslow “Winn” Schott, I recognized the name. It belongs to the Superman villain Toyman, and I began to get curious about how this character would transform into a bad guy – just look at his adorable face!

But that’s not the case at all. A few episodes back, Winn made a comment to Kara about “daddy issues” and then I realized Jordan’s playing the Toyman’s son, and it seems he knows about his father’s nefarious deeds.

We’re going to meet this villainous father in episode 10. Here’s the synopsis:

Kara does her best to support Winn when his father, the supervillain Toyman, breaks out of prison and seeks out his son for unknown reasons. Also, Cat offers Lucy a job at CatCo and Alex asks Hank to use his powers to help uncover Maxwell Lord’s plans.

Sounds exciting!

In the comics, Toyman uses toy-like devices as his weapons. They may seem comedic, but they’re usually quite dangerous too. Some of his inventions include acid-spraying water pistols and toy soldiers with real guns.

Jordan spoke to DC Comics about the father and son relationship:

“For Winn, it’s abandonment without reason and without understanding. We’ll learn a little more about why and what that was. He’s definitely holding on to some pretty deep, dark emotions when it comes to confronting his dad that are brought to the surface very quickly. I think the exciting thing for me is you start to see what’s behind the fun, quippy-ness and why Winn is like that because nobody’s that kind of lighthearted all the time. It’s compensating for something. I would just say that we maybe start to have an idea why he’s using that—I don’t want to say defense mechanism—of always being the happygolucky kind of guy.”

The episode, titled “Childish Things,” is set to air on Monday, January 18 at 8 pm on CBS.
