Star Wars: The Force Awakens Crosses Generations and Casts a Daughter

Carrie Fisher Billie Lourd

When Carrie Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, was announced to be in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, many fans rumored she’d be playing a young Princess Leia in a flashback scene. Her mother, of course, originated the role and will be playing her again in the upcoming film.

Unfortunately, Lourd has confirmed that the rumor isn’t true.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, which you can watch below, Lourd talks about how she wishes she was playing a young Princess Leia.

She will be in the film, but tells ET’s Cameron Mathison that she can’t say too much about her character “or lack of character”, which she then quickly says was revealing too much.

It’s likely that she has only a small role in the film, but it’s still exciting to see the franchise crossing over from generation to generation.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, directed by J.J. Abrams and starring Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Daisy Ridley, Domhnall Gleeson, Adam Driver, and Gwendoline Christie, is set to come out on December 18, 2015.

Who do you think Billie Lourd will play if not a young Princess Leia? Share your ideas in the comments!
