Geek Headlines: New Sabrina and Marvel Trailers, DC News, and More!

This new The Predator may not feature Arnie, Carl, or Jessie, but if Thursday night’s previews are any indication, this is one remake that’s definitely hit its mark. Even with a palpable Rotten Tomatoes score of 34% (and dropping), early previews brought in an impressive $2.5 million.

Meanwhile, the horror thriller The Nun continued to haunt the number one spot this week, with those Crazy Rich Asians not far behind.

New Teen Trailers: A Chilling Witch and Cartoon Superheroes

Back in the early 90s, ABC’s TGIF was about the greatest two hours of television on Earth. With hit family shows like Boy Meets World, Step by Step, Family Matters, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch, it was easily one of the best lineups ever.

The new Sabrina, however, isn’t anything like the original. From the executive producers of Riverdale comes this chilling new imagining of the iconic teen witch. Think Rosemary’s Baby meets The Exorcist, this witch is definitely not family friendly.

Marvel Superheroines Rise in New Trailer

The next generation of Marvel heroes is here… at least in cartoon form. Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors features a team of misfit teens and their ongoing quest to deal with puberty while, you know, also trying to save the world. Featuring Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl, Ghost-Spider, and more, the new series is set to premiere on the Disney Channel later this month.

Wait… Who’s Gonna Play Superman?

As mentioned earlier this week, the Hollywood Reporter dropped a bombshell by announcing Henry Cavill wouldn’t reprise his role as Superman. But then Warner Bros took it back… kind of.  In a statement issued Wednesday, the studio said, “While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged.” Yeah, that’s pretty vague. So is Cavill truly out? And what of Affleck’s role as Batman? Only time will tell.

Don’t Forget to Celebrate Batman Day!

That’s right! September 15th is officially known as Batman Day. With tons of cool bat-themed events taking place around the country, you can honor the world’s greatest caped crusader (sorry, Supes) while grabbing exclusive comics, merch, and more. This year’s partners include Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, and more. When you visit one of the participating stores, you can actually get the first chapter of BATMAN: WHITE KNIGHT, a month before the official release. And you can read more about the event here.

And if you’re still in the bat spirit, celebrate in style by checking out these awesome Batman collectibles.
