Geek Headlines: New True Detective Trailer, Exclusive DC interview, and More

It’s been a good week for Hollywood. The extra extravagant Crazy Rich Asians still holds the number one spot, while the new cyber thriller Searching is heading toward a nationwide release. Mission Impossible 6 is still swimming in box office gold, with an impressive $700,000 in weekly sales.

We’ve got a nice, long weekend ahead of us, so sit back, relax, and take in the past week’s awesome news!

It may have been a slow summer for HBO originals, but the upcoming year is looking like fire with these hot new trailers.

Above, we have a sneak peek at True Detective season 3. After Mcconaughey’s and Harrelson’s outstanding performances in season 1, HBO is looking to redeem its second season flop with a new cast and a new story. If the trailer is any indication, this season is likely to offer a more somber and unsettling tone.

But that’s not all! We also got a few new Game of Thrones glimpses. It’s been a long time coming, but the final season is close. Are you still dealing with those GoT withdrawals? Us too. Fortunately,  you can check a few new teasers above.

The Mayans are coming! From the creator of Sons of Anarchy comes this hard-hitting spin-off to the hit FX show. Set several years after the finale of Anarchy, this motorcycle-centered series focuses on Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes and his struggle to make a name for himself. The series premieres September 4th, but you can catch a sneak peek below.

Woo Woo Woo! WWE Superstars Zack Ryder and Kurt Hawkins are launching their own wrestling action figure podcast. As major collectors, these two have come together to share their knowledge of the wide world of pro wrestling with their love of all things collectibles.

“We’ve got inside sources, we’ll have fellow colleagues … maybe even guys that you wouldn’t expect,” Hawkins said in a recent interview. New episodes will be released every Friday. You can download the dynamic duo’s new podcast on iTunes.

And on the toy front, Entertainment Earth recently sat down with acclaimed DC Collectibles Creative Director Jim Fletcher for an out-of-this-world interview.
