Geek Headlines: Krypton Premiere Date, Hottest Collectibles of 2017, and More!

Christmas has come and gone and we’re on another holiday weekend with New Year’s Eve coming up! This past week has been a little quieter on the pop culture headlines front but there’s still a little Holiday cheer to spread so let’s take a look back at the week that was!

Journey Back to Krypton

Syfy has been working on an original series set on Superman’s home planet of Krypton but taking place generations before the planet was destroyed. The series will follow Superman‘s grandfather, Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe) as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. The series will debut on March 21, 2018, on the Syfy network. David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Dark Knight trilogy) will serve as executive producer while Cameron Welsh (Ash vs Evil Dead) will serve as executive producer and showrunner.

Box Office Busters

To absolutely no one’s surprise, Star Wars: The Last Jedi ($445 million) reigns supreme at the box office and has become the number two movie of 2017 domestically, passing Wonder Woman ($413 million) and behind Beauty and the Beast ($504 million). For the week, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle came in second during its first-week release, including Christmas day. Audiences seem to be enjoying the second Jumanji live-action film, getting an A- CinemaScore.
