Donald Glover, the acclaimed actor and rapper, will be appearing in the upcoming Han Solo spinoff film as young Lando Calrissian. In a recent interview with Ellen he chatted about the role and how incredible it is.
“It’s really crazy. I’m very honored,” said Glover about the casting news. He reveals that he’s been a fan of the franchise since he was a child, and the very first action figure he owned was the suave ex-smuggler himself. “That was the first toy I had – Lando. That was the very first. I remember it like yesterday. My dad gave it to me. I had a Darth Vader one, too.”
His parents were among the first that he called to break the news to. His mom, a big Billy Dee Williams fan, advised him to not mess it up. The role is definitely some big shoes to fill, not to mention a large cape to wear!
The yet untitled Han Solo film will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and is expected to hit theaters in 2018.
