Mark Hamill Uses the Force for Good and Visits Children’s Hospital LA with Star Wars: Force for Change

There is a light side and a dark side, but when the Star Wars: Force for Change program visited Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) recently, it was the light side that triumphed.

Various characters from the franchise, including Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, R2-D2, and members of the 501st Legion spent the day at the hospital visiting the children and doing various activities with them.

Even star Mark Hamill showed up to sign autographs and put smiles on everyone’s faces!

Carol Kim, manager of Child Life at CHLA, talked about what the day meant and Star Wars’ impact:

“When you can capture the undivided attention ranging from as young as 3 years old to a person well into their 80’s, you know you’ve got something special. Star Wars signifies just that, extraordinary. The anticipation and irrepressible excitement radiating from our patients and families representing every generation was profound. In that moment, I think we all forgot we were in the hospital.”

It’s always humbling and good to remember to give back in any way you can. There’s something exciting and sweet about seeing something you love make a positive impact on people. And that’s what Star Wars is, in many different ways, and when I see things like this, my heart grows three sizes and I love it even more.
