Riddle Me This, Riddle Me That, Jim Parsons Wants to Play a Villain

Riddle me this, riddle me that, who wears superhero t-shirts but wants to play a villain? Why, none other than Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory!

In an interview with MTV, which you can watch below, he talks about wanting to join the cinematic comic universes.

Parsons says: “I would like it to be a villain and… I’d really like to play the Riddler.”

When the interviewer says that Parson would be “dope” as the Riddler, Parsons’ immediate response is great: “Wouldn’t I? Did you hear that? I would be dope as the Riddler.”

Now, I’m a little biased. The Riddler a.k.a. Edward Nigma is my favorite of Batman’s villains. I like Cory Michael Smith’s portrayal of Nigma in Gotham but I’m selfish and want all the Riddler.

I also think that Parsons would make an excellent Riddler. He’s got the frame and quick-witted abilities to pull off a villain who commits crimes out of egotism and narcissism. Nigma has a neurotic compulsion to leave riddles at his crime scenes and I’ve always found him fascinating. Not only that, but Parsons is an excellent actor, as seen in The Muppets and The Normal Heart.

The only times we’ve seen the Riddler on film were Frank Gorshin in the 1966 theatrical film Batman and Jim Carrey’s portrayal in Batman Forever.

What would you think of Jim Parsons as the Riddler? Let us know in the comments!
