[UPDATED] Get Your First Look at Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander in Fantastic Beasts

Yesterday we got the logo for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the upcoming spin-off film in the Harry Potter franchise.

Based on the 2001 book J.K. Rowling wrote under the pseudonym Newt Scamander as Harry’s textbook for his Care of Magical Creatures class, the movie follows Newt (played by Eddie Redmayne) as he travels to document magical creatures.

Now we get something even more exciting than a logo: Newt himself! Check out this awesome Entertainment Weekly cover which features our magical protagonist.

He looks so great and, dare I say it, fantastic.

Newt is shown here “standing inside the entrance of the majestic art deco-influenced Magical Congress of the United States of America (or MACUSA), which is the American version of the Ministry of Magic that’s housed inside the Woolworth Building in the film.”

We already knew the film would venture out of the British Isles as Newt is set to meet Colin Farrell’s character, Graves, in New York. But knowing about magical societies outside of Britain, such as the US version of the Ministry of Magic, is exciting and I can’t wait to see what else the film will explore.

You’ll be able to learn more about the film from this issue of EW, which hits stands Friday.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, directed by David Yates and starring Eddie Redmayne, Ezra Miller, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ron Perlman, and Colin Farrell, is set to hit theaters on November 18, 2016.
