Two Primes, two Matrix accessories, four different modes. Yup, this could very well be the best Leader Class set yet.
New year, new toys. This week Adam Pawlus takes a deep look at the Transformers Generations Power of the Primes Leader Optimus Prime and Rodimus Prime. That’s right – your two favorite Primes come packed together in one awesome boxed set.
As the third installment in the Prime Wars series, these Leader Class figures include a smaller Transformer that combines into a larger bot. Naturally, Hot Rod transforms into Rodimus Prime, and Orion Pax (who was made famous by the classic G1 episode “War Dawn”) morphs into Optimus.
Adam’s fawning over these toys, especially Optimus Prime, and it’s easy to see why. With each figure sporting four different modes (two separate robot modes and two vehicle modes), these Primes offer a ton of replay value. Plus, the build quality on both is seriously on point. Not since the late, great Generation 2 line has there been an Optimus this good. And that’s really saying something considering the various installments and reboots between then and now.
It’s a little early, but this Optimus could easily be a contender for Adam’s figure of the year. To learn why, and to hear more about all the cool new Power of the Primes gimmicks, check out the latest Toy of the Week Podcast below.
