What Did You Think of the Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer?

We’ve been waiting, some patiently and some not-so much, but the time has come. The first trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi was given to the world from the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando today. To say it was glorious would be a disservice. It was splendiforous (a made-up word to be sure) but this is Star Wars we’re talking about, there is no other way to describe it.

So let’s dig into this trailer and see what Rey, Finn, and Poe have been up to since we last saw them.

We get a good, yet brief look into the training of Rey by Luke Skywalker on the planet Ahch-To. He tells her to breathe and then reach out (presumably with the Force) and tell him what she sees. She sees the light, the darkness, and the balance. We get a glimpse of the back of Leia’s head and it pulls at our hearts to relive the loss of Carrie Fisher. We also see a far scoping shot of Rey training with the lightsaber with Luke watching from a distance and we know this film already has some beautiful cinematography.

Quick shots of new and exotic planets including one with some new speeders kicking up red dirt. Also it looks like the Resistance is going to be hit hard by the First Order in this film as we see an attack on one of their bases and an explosion destroying Poe’s black X-Wing.

The trailer ends with the old and weary Jedi Master Luke claiming that “It’s time for the Jedi to end.” This could be where the title of the film gets its influence but what exactly does Luke mean? He seems ok with this and maybe that’s just because he’s tired and defeated at the loss of Ben (Kylo Ren) to the dark side and finding out about the death of his friend Han. Of course, this is all speculation until we see the movie on December 15, 2017.

The Star Wars faithful got those familiar tingles watching this trailer. The music was different, fresh for the new story but still had that nostalgic sound we all know and love. If this were to be the only trailer we’d get for this film, I’d be okay with that. I actually don’t want to see any more but we all know we will see more footage in the near future.

The trailer we got today wasn’t the only gift we were given, we also received this astoundingly magnificent poster!
