When The Flash went into mid-season hiatus, the show wrapped up all the current running story lines nicely. There’s danger looming on the horizon, but they all had a nice little moment before heading to winter break. If you’ve been watching the CW for more than a minute, this should terrify you. The Flash is a more joyous show than say Arrow, but having something good happen can only mean one thing – we’re in trouble for the second half of the season!
1) Give Me Back Harrison Wells
Guys. I don’t have words for how much I dislike “fun bro” Wells. It’s not a shot on Cavanaugh, he is an exceptional actor and the show would not be even close to what it is without him. I like my Wells’ bitter, and angry, and morally questionable. I am horrified because I thought we would lose him after season one, but we didn’t! We got Earth 2 Harry! All the anger without the super villainy. Now we have Earth 19 Harry, who is awful and terrible and GIVE ME BACK MY WELLS!
2) Less Bad Choices
Bad choices help progress a story and help our heroes grow… blah, blah, blah. Because of Arrow’s constant proclivity for all around awful decisions, I don’t have patience for it anywhere else. Is that fair? No. Is it how I feel? Yes. Barry, stop changing the timeline. Wally, Jesse, learn to listen. Everybody start talking to one another. This is not Team Arrow. This is Team Flash. Be healthier!
3) No More Savitar
I know I’m not going to get this one, but I don’t have words for how much I don’t care about this character. He’s boring. Even with Iris’ life being at stake there’s nothing about him that interests or intimidates me. Perhaps it’s the fact that we all know Barry will make some sort of idiot decision to avoid it. I don’t know. I don’t care about Savitar.
4) Killer Frost without the “Killer”
We can have a world where the Caitlin Snow of Earth 1 has her powers, but doesn’t go all murder face after she uses them, and I want it. Caitlin is one of my favorite characters in the series, and if they take her away I will be very cross. They should avoid it. And we can find a new sort of character for Caitlin in the story line that they’ve created for The Flash.
5) Captain Cold
Legends of Tomorrow made me fall in love with Captain Cold, and I hate myself for it. Everything about Wentworth Miller’s depiction of the character makes me happy, even the over-the-top acting. My favorite bit is the “reluctant hero” part of his story, but I’d be okay if we didn’t see that. What if we get the villainous Cold who loves toying with The Flash? I don’t care, put Captain Cold back on my screen!
What are you looking forward to as The Flash wraps its third season?
