Where No Man Has Gone Before: Star Trek and Aliens Crossover Comic Series in Development

Two of the greatest sci-fi franchises will soon be joining forces! Dark Horse Comics and IDW Publishing will be bringing us the Star Trek: The Next Generation/Aliens comic book series. The crossover I never knew I needed until now!

The title of the upcoming book is Acceptable Losses. The series will be written by Scott and David Tipton, with J.K. Woodward as the principal artist. The three have worked together before, penning the 2012 miniseries Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation 2.

The idea of crossover comics is nothing new. In fact, IDW Publishing – the owners of the Star Trek comic book rights – have been lending out their characters for collaborations for many years. They’ve partnered with Marvel for Star Trek/X-Men, Star Trek: The Next Generation: X-Men: Second Contact, and Star Trek: The Next Generation/X-Men: Planet X. DC has also joined in on the fun for Star Trek/Legion of Super-Heroes and two separate Star Trek/Green Lantern series.

Comic book crossovers are a fun way for fans to see characters from different properties interact in a way that wouldn’t be possible with feature films or television. I for one am excited to see how the crew of the Enterprise deals with the bloodthirsty Xenomorphs!

Acceptable Losses will be available in April 2017.

Are you excited for this upcoming series? Who do you think will prevail? Let us know in the comments!
