It was announced recently that the Man of Steel would be making an appearance in the upcoming season of Supergirl. This, of course, led everyone to wonder who would be playing this iteration of Superman, with Tom Welling’s name being lobbied around the most.
Welling, who played the character on the beloved show Smallville, will not be donning the red and blue again.
Instead, CW alum Tyler Hoechlin, known for his role as Derek Hale on Teen Wolf, has landed the role of Superman. He will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and executive producer Andrew Kreisberg couldn’t sound more thrilled: “Greg and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman.”
Hoechlin was recently in the film Everybody Wants Some!! and will be seen in the upcoming film Stratton.
Supergirl will air Mondays this fall at 8 pm on The CW.
