Entertainment Weekly Reveals First Look at Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange

We still might not have a trailer for Marvel’s Doctor Strange, but now we have our first look at Benedict Cumberbatch in the role!

Appearing on this week’s cover of Entertainment Weekly, Cumberbatch dons the costume of Doctor Strange, complete with magical abilities.

Oh my.

Plus check out other exclusive photos below!

While most of the effects will be created in post-production, the role still requires a lot of physicality from Cumberbatch, which he describes as being “balletic” and “very dynamic.”

We know that Cumberbatch wasn’t the only actor considered for this role, but he was the first one, according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, and it was only due to his popularity that they began to look at other choices:

“He kept getting more popular, and more popular, and he kept getting busier, and busier, and it looked like the timing wasn’t going to work. So we looked at some other actors for a while and ultimately decided, ‘We have to try and make it work with Benedict and with his schedule.'”

Hopefully their faith in him pays off.

Doctor Strange is set to to come out on November 4, 2016, with Scott Derrickson directing and Jon Spaihts penning the script. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton, Michael Stuhlbarg, Rachel McAdams, and Mads Mikkelsen.
