Nathan Fillion Prepares for His Mission in Epic Halo 5 Cinematic Opening Sequence

Today, Microsoft and 343 Studios released the opening cinematic sequence for the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians and it looks awesome. Check it out below!

While Master Chief isn’t in the video, that doesn’t take away from the stunning visuals, fun action, and, oh yeah, NATHAN FILLION. Man, it is always great to see him.

This sequence follows Spartan Locke and his Fireteam Osiris comrades as they prepare to jump into the middle of a battle. It’s exhilarating and a thrill to watch, which should only give you hope for the game.

An official note with the video reveals more:

Halo 5 Opening Cinematic. Watch Spartan Locke and the rest of Fireteam Osiris in the worldwide unveiling of the opening cinematic to Halo 5: Guardians. In the cinematic, the group receives UNSC orders to recover a high value target and deploy to take on Covenant and Promethean forces in a fierce action sequence – the start to the most ambitious, robust and epic Halo campaign experience yet.

Bold words, but based on the video, it seems the game will deliver.

Here’s the official synopsis of the game:

Launching this fall exclusively on Xbox One, Halo 5: Guardians continues the story of the Master Chief, and introduces a brand new central character to the Halo universe – Spartan Locke (as seen in the liveaction series “Halo: Nightfall”). Peace is shattered when colony worlds are unexpectedly attacked. And when humanity’s greatest hero goes missing, Spartan Locke is tasked with hunting the Master Chief and solving a mystery that threatens the entire galaxy.

Play as the Master Chief and Spartan Locke as the hunt plays out across three new worlds. Choose how to achieve objectives while playing solo with AI teammates or with friends in a 4-player cooperative experience. Also featuring new, massive-scale multiplayer mode that supports 24-player battles with both friendly and enemy AI dropping in. It’s nonstop action when you confront Spartans, Covenant, and Forerunners while trying to complete a variety of objectives.

Halo 5 is set to be released on Xbox One on October 27th.
