Amazon Working on Galaxy Quest Series, Revealing They Never Give Up and Never Surrender

The beloved 1999 sci-fi cult film Galaxy Quest is ready for a new mission.

Courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, we now know that Amazon Studios is producing a brand new series based on the film.

By Grabthar’s hammer!

The fun, clever parody film follows the cast of a Star Trek like show as they’re abducted by aliens who mistook their show for a documentary and have to learn how to navigate a real starship and get back home.

What’s wonderful about the film, and why so many people love it, is because it embraces sci-fi rather than existing to mock the genre.

The show is still in early stages of development (it hasn’t even been greenlit yet), but the original crew never gave up and they never surrendered.

Both the film’s co-writer and director, Robert Gordon and Dean Parisot, will write and direct the pilot, respectively. Executive producers Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein are also back.

It’s not clear, however, if the series will court the original cast members. After all, there were some pretty big names in the film like Alan Rickman, Sigourney Weaver, Sam Rockwell, and Tim Allen.

But it’s still happening and that’s what matters!
