Can Television Handle the Power of Titans?

We told you about the film production, showed you the first footage, and shared the first trailer, but now we have even more to tell you about Attack on Titan, also known as Shingeki no Kyojin.

If you thought the live action film and second season of the anime was just not enough of the Survey Corps, you’re in luck because a live action television series is in development and set for release this August, according to AnimeNewsNetwork!

The live action film spreads the story between two films and this new television series will tie into that. Though the TV series will show the everyday lives of the soldiers, it directly relates to the films and appears to focus on Hanji, with Satomi Ishihara reprising her role.

Nanami Sakuraba (Sasha), Shu Watanabe (Fukushi), Rina Takeda (Lil), Ayame Misaki (Hiana) will also reprise their roles for the series. Yūta Hiraoka joins the cast as a new character.

Shinji Higuchi, director of the live action films, will return to direct the television show. Hajime Isayama, creator of the manga, will supervise the live action components, with Yuusuke Watanabe penning the scripts.

The synopsis for the film is as follows:

The story of Attack on Titan takes place in a world where the remnants of humanity live inside a series of connected cities, isolated by enormous walls. These walls exists to keep the Titans out, gigantic humanoid creatures who devour humans seemingly without reason. These Titans have reduced the world’s population to staggeringly low numbers.

The 3 main protagonists of Isayama’s manga are Eren Jaeger, his adoptive sister Mikasa Ackerman, and their friend Armin Arlert. Their lives are changed forever when a “Colossal Titan” breaches the wall protecting their town, leading to thee death of Eren’s mother. Vowing revenge and to reclaim the world from the Titans, Eren, Mikasa and Armin join the Survey Corps, an elite group of soldiers who fight Titans outside the walls.

Haruma Miura plays Eren. Kiko Mizuhara is Mikasa. Kanata Hongo will play Armin. Satomi Ishihara portrays Hanji. Nanami Sakuraba is Sasha. Takahiro Miura is Jean.
