Honor on Disney Studios and Their Cow for Next Live-Action Film Choice

There’s no dishonor to be found with Disney’s recent trend of remaking their classic animated films into live-action spectacles. With the success of Maleficent last year and the early success of Cinderella this year, it’s no wonder that yet another film has joined these ranks.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 1998 animated classic Mulan is now eyed by the studio as the next big project. Disney bought a script from Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek with Chris Bender and J.C. Spink producing.

This tale focuses on the Chinese warrior Hua Mulan, who is part of the official Disney Princess line-up. This will be the first time Disney brings one of their princesses of color to live-action and it’s very exciting.

In the animated film, Mulan disguises herself as a male to join the army in her father’s place. She then defeats the evil Hun leader, Shan-Yu, and saves all of China. Not bad, huh? The film is full of colorful characters, wonderful themes, and some gorgeous music.

If their recent live-action remakes are anything to go by, we’re in for some truly magical times at the movies in the next several years.

Mulan joins the upcoming Beauty and the Beast, set to hit theaters on March 17, 2017; The Jungle Book; Dumbo, helmed by Tim Burton; and a possible sequel to Alice in Wonderland.

Are you excited to see a live-action Mulan? Who would you like to see cast as the titular heroine? Share your thoughts in the comments!
