Oh My Glob: Adventure Time Is Getting a Movie

You can’t tell, but I’m giving this news a thumbs up right now! Why? Because Cartoon Network’s awesome hit show Adventure Time is getting a movie!

Created by Pendleton Ward, the animated show follows Finn the Human and his best friend Jake the Dog throughout their numerous adventures in the Land of Ooo. The feature length film is being produced at Warner Bros. Studios.

Chris McKay, recently known for directing The Lego Batman Movie and producing The Lego Movie, will be co-producing this movie with Roy Lee, who produced the first Lego Movie and will produce The Lego Batman Movie. Based on that association alone, an Adventure Time movie is off to a great start.

While no one else is attached to the film yet (namely the director and cast, though we hope the original cast will be involved), it’s said that Ward will be involved the feature.

A feature-length film has a lot of opportunity to showcase Finn and Jake’s biggest adventure yet. Its length will allow many of our favorite characters to show up – from regulars like BMO, Princess Bubblegum, Ice King, Lumpy Space Princess, and Marceline to lesser known characters from single episodes! I personally think it’d be cool if they found a way for Fionna and Cake and all their friends to make an appearance.

Adventure Time is a cross-generational phenomenon that confronts different themes and tropes with remarkable depth. With one-of-a-kind humor, it’s more often than not laugh out loud funny.

There’s no set date yet but as more information is revealed, we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop.

How lumping excited are you for an Adventure Time movie? Let us know in the comments!
