Avengers 3 Rumored to Be Split Into 2 Films

Fans eagerly awaiting new information on The Avengers have quite a surprise this week. A rumor is circulating via the Daily Marvelite, which claims that the Avengers 3 film will be an epic story split across two movies! Hey, it’s certainly a possibility. Think of Harry Potter, Twilight, and The Hunger Games, among others, who have successfully (and lucratively) split their final film into an two-part arc? The question is: Can Marvel do it as well – or perhaps better?

While the Daily Marvelite has admitted that all their source has told them is that the battle with Thanos will play out over two films, it could be that Avengers 4 will conclude the arc, or perhaps that the third film will be subdivided.

If the report’s claims are true, the May 2018 and May 2019 “untitled” Marvel movies may in fact turn out to be Avengers 3 and 4. As far as contracts are concerned, it isn’t clear how this would work. Robert Downey, Jr. and Chris Evans’ deals will expire after one of those two films, and neither have expressed in interest in renewing their deal.

Most fans are assuming that the film will be an adaptation of the Jim Starlin graphic novel The Infinity Gauntlet, which spawned a number of sequels in the Marvel Universe that might serve as a thematic “second half” to the Avengers 3.

What do you think? Should Avengers 3 be split into two movies? Let us know in the comments below!
