Marvel in Final Negotiations to Shoot Doctor Strange in England

A new report from Screen Daily reveals that Doctor Strange will finally be released in theaters on July 8th, 2016. This is great news for fans who have been anxiously awaiting the film, which Marvel has been working towards for years. The report also says that the studio is likely to shoot the film in May 2015 at Pinewood-Shepperton Studios in the UK.

While it has yet to be officially announced who will play Strange in the film, Joaquin Phoenix is said to be in the final talks for the lead and is the one actor who is mentioned in the report. Other actors who have been considered include Jared Leto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hardy, Edgar Ramirez, and Jack Huston.

Scott Derrickson of Sinister is directing Doctor Strange from a script most recently written by Jon Spaihts. Earlier drafts of the script had been written by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer.

Doctor Strange was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Strange made his first appearance in 1963’s “Strange Tales” #110, which follows the adventures of Stephen Strange, a neurosurgeon who loses precision in his hands following a car accident. He becomes the ‘Master of the Mystic Arts’ while attempting to regain his former skills.
