First Look: Star Wars VII Stormtrooper and Han Solo

Earlier today, Indie Revolver posted images of what is largely believed to be the new Stormtrooper helmets for Star Wars VII. Following these images were costumes designed believed to be for Harrison Ford’s Han Solo. These leaked images follow the first look at Mark Hamill on set and an older R2D2 unit in his travelling case.

The new, streamlined Stormtrooper and Snowtrooper designs remind us of the Stormtroopers from the Clone Wars animated series. The new asymmetrical design follows the original design quite naturally, while still being a unique iteration. The new helmet appears to straddle the aesthetic of the original series’ and the Clone Wars’ Stormtrooper designs. The sleek new design definitely feel more like the original series–the Star Wars we all know and love.JJ Abrams’ vision of the Star Wars universe appears to focus on the original gang: Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Leia Organa (hopefully Leia Solo by this point!). Han’s first costume design is suited for the snowtrod world of Hoth, while his second speaks more to his rogue-ish charm. Han continues to use his classic DL-44 blaster and iconic gun belt and holster. In fact, with a long brown coat, this Han Solo reminds us of another resourceful captain with a ship that won’t quit.

With the original cast, original ships, practical effects, and these beautiful designs, it’s easy to get excited for the next films set in the Star Wars universe. Despite any concerns we may have, we’ll be waiting in line at midnight for the chance to see Star Wars VII.

Tell us what you think of the new Stormtrooper designs in the comments. Where do you think these costume designs will take our beloved scoundrel?
